I don’t know if it is just me, but I feel like a million things are happening at once right now. Where did this year go?? I am grateful that things are happening; I have to learn to balance it all better. To do this, I have had to come up with a few strategies to help get myself through the weeks.
Here is what I have been doing to “try” and balance everything:
Utilize a Calendar
I was always the person who bought a cute calendar at the beginning of the year and would tell myself I would use it every day. After one month into the year, I would never touch it again. As much as I wanted to have that cute calendar, it is just not practical.
I started using Google Calendar more and more. It connects with all my devices and keeps things organized. I can put in everything I have to get done and, it will send me reminders to do it. Having a calendar helps you lay out everything you have to do and stop yourself from being so overwhelmed with it all running through your head.
Make a to-do list
From the calendar, you use you can make a to-do list. I find that when I am busy, a to-do list helps to keep me organized. Something I do to make these lists more useful is by ranking the items from the most important to least important.
The item that has to get done the most should be first and don’t move on till it is complete. This will ensure that you get done what you have too. Plus, that feeling of crossing out a task feels so good.
Prep Things Ahead of Time
By preparing your meals, your paperwork, your gym clothes, etc, ahead of time, you are taking away some of your stress. I have been making my lunch the night before work and, man is has been a game-changer. I wake up in the morning with one less thing to worry about, allowing me more time to enjoy my coffee.
Getting rid of just even a little bit of stress can help to improve your mental health. When you have so much going on, the little things like prepping ahead can make the world of a difference.
Do Things that Bring Value to Your Life
When you have so much going on in your life, you need to ensure that what you are doing brings some sort of value to your life. Trust me, there is nothing worse than doing a bunch of different tasks and hating life while doing it. You lose all motivation and will to get tasks done.
I have started working a new job that is an hour from where I live. With a daily commute and an 8-hour workday, I am too tired to do anything. As much as I love doing this blog, I had to put it on the back burner for a bit. This was because I knew I would not be creating the content I wanted to.
Sacrifices happen in life, but the one thing you should never sacrifice is yourself. Your mental health is so so so important! Make sure you are taking time for you.
Take Time for You
To make sure you are not sacrificing yourself, you need to take time for yourself. So, in that calendar and to-do, make sure you schedule in some you time. You may think you have no time for it but, you know all that time you spend scrolling on Instagram?? That is a great time to do some self care.
It can be hard to balance everything but, I know you are doing the best you can. Don’t worry about what other people think. Make sure you are worried about yourself first. Use these tips to try and help yourself balance everything it will help but, make sure you know that you don’t need to have it all figured out.
