10 Life Lessons 2020 Taught me that Gave me a New Perspective

By far, 2020 has been one of the strangest years for many. A lot of different things happened this year, making an impact on all our lives. Although many good things happened this year, it will always be remembered as the year the world shut down. Can you believe that in March the whole world shut down for some time?

This year has taught me many different life lessons! Here is a list of a few I have learned.

We Can’t Plan Our Future

If this year has taught us anything, it’s that things can change in the blink of an eye. I had so many plans for this year! Some things came true but, many were put on hold. It taught me that I need to go with the flow and things will work out.

Life is Precious

Many people lost loved ones this year either from the virus or other circumstances. I know I lost some important people to me. It has been hard but it has also taught me that life is short. We have no idea how much time we have left on this earth. We need to start living like each day like it is our last.

Mental Health is as Important as Physical Health

This year has tested many people’s mental health. We were forced to be away from loved ones, jobs were lost and so much more. With that being said, we also learned ways to cope with our mental health. I know for myself I had to find ways to learn how to cope with my anxiety as it kept getting worse as the pandemic went on.

How Important it is to look out for others

In tough times like these, we need to make sure that we are taking care of each other. Some people have lost lots during this pandemic and giving back is so important. In times where everyone is struggling sending love by helping others is what is keeping us going.

Appreciating the little things

I have learned how to appreciate the little things this year. Small joys like making a cup of coffee have helped me get through this rough year. By appreciating the little things, I have been able to keep a positive mind sent when everything else seems so negative.

Appreciating Things we Took for Granted

As much as I appreciate the little things, I also appreciate the things I took for granted. Being able to spend time with friends and family will forever be changed. I will never take for granted the time I get to spend with loved ones. I also won’t take for granted the time I get to go out as well.

How Important Self Care Is

You can lose yourself when you are not properly taking care of yourself. I know this first hand. When I started incorporating self-care in the forms of yoga, journaling, and eating healthy, I started to find myself again. Self-care does not have to be all about face masks and bath bombs it is about doing things that improve you.

Appreciating what we already have

I don’t know about you but I am finding a new love for things I already have. Being on a tighter budget this year I have learned how to use things I already have in. I found I am spending less on things I didn’t need and learning how to use pieces I already had.

Discover New Passions

2020 helped me find new passions. Did not know I would love boxing as much as I do now. It’s now my new favourite workout I do all the time. I also learned how to knit, something I would not have done without being stuck at home. Can’t wait to discover new passions in 2021!

Time Spent with Loved Ones is True Blessing

One thing this year gave a lot of us was time. If there was no quarantine I would not have spent as much time with my family. Although it would get difficult at times I was so grateful to have the extra time I did with my family. I also, got to rekindle some friendships. I have to say without this pandemic I would not have the relationships I have now.

This year was tough no doubt, however, it came with many blessings in disguise. It taught us how to slow down and realize all the good we do have in life.

I hope 2021 brings you happiness, health, and love!! Have a safe new year can’t wait to see what 2021 brings!

Success! You're on the list.
